Towns and parishes sign up to action plans

OVER twenty towns and parishes throughout the Rother area have successfully created their own document to help shape the future of their communities.

Following consultation with residents, towns and parishes have drawn up individual Local Action Plans for their areas. These action plans detail the changes requested by communities to improve the quality of life for local people.

Local Action Plans allow residents to drive change according to their wants and needs.

It will now be for the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), a body including the district council and partners, to help communities deliver on their plans.

Already a range of objectives identified in the plans have been carried out.

These include help from Rother District Council in funding a new sports pavilion at Sedlescombe, play facilities at Crowhurst and Etchingham, drainage improvements to Catsfield Recreation Ground, provision of parking at Battle recreation ground and many other projects.

Rother District Council leader and chairman of Rother LSP Cllr Carl Maynard said:

"This is wonderful news. It means we have the data and evidence for almost every parish in the district which will assist us in improving the lives of local people by helping them reach their objectives as communities."
