The New Curry Centre, which has been serving up Indian cuisine to Horsham residents for nearly 50 years, received a glass trophy and certificate to celebrate its victory and certificates were awarded to the runners up.

Owner of the family take-away and restaurant Rama Zaman said: “My cousin started running it and she ran it for 28 years.

“Then I moved in around 1999 and since then we have made updates and business is very good. We have lots of customers supporting us.

“We have improved a lot of things last year including £6-7,000 on soundproofing.

“A number of people have complimented us about it.

“We are very good value for take aways and can provide it at a good price and reasonable time.

“We have a good special banquet which is also good value and every Tuesday a five- course meal.”

His son Ahsan now manages the business.

We wanted you to take into consideration what it was that you thought gave yours the edge, what lifted it above its rivals and gave you what you wanted.

And you did.

Thanks to the strength of this year’s entrants, we’ve had hundreds of votes registered for the curry houses that featured in the top 10.

Whether it was a signature dish exclusive to them, the service and welcome you received or simply that you just knew that, pound for pound, the value you got at your favourite just couldn’t be beaten, you told us what made yours the most mouth-watering candidate.

We thank everyone who participated and hope that they all enter again next year to see if they can win in 2017.
