Town’s wartime past revealed

THIS year sees the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.

And to mark the war, a special event will be organised at the Littlehampton Library, in Maltravers Road, to focus on the conflict.

Dr Alan Simmonds, author of A Small Town in a Great War: Littlehampton 1914-1918, will be telling the stories of the people living in the town during the conflict.

Dr Simmonds’ research draws on local newspapers and interviews with townspeople by Littlehampton Museum, as well as documents held at the West Sussex Record Office.

The talk is on Wednesday, March 5, at 6.30pm.

Tickets are £3 and include refreshments. To reserve a place, call 01903 716450 or visit the library.
