Traders Battle 4 Business at networking event

MORE than 30 exhibitors filled Battle Abbey School on Saturday for the Battle 4 Business event.

The event provided the chance for local traders to make new contacts and promote their services.

The exhibition, ably served with choice local produce by Nobles Restaurant, featured, among other things, a fashion show and a local valuation workshop by Burstow Hewett.

More than 140 visitors from the area visited the event at the Abbey, including Battle mayor Richard Bye, who also conducted the opening ceremony.

Nick Acuna, chair of the Battle 4 Business committee, said: “Despite the poor weather we had a solid turnout, particularly early on, the fashion show which featured clothing from both Fatface and Raggs, was very popular, and we received lots of favourable comments on the day.”

After a hectic day of networking, more than 70 guests returned for an evening reception event in the school library.

Ian Mercer, the chair of governors at Battle Abbey School, gave an introductory speech thanking the town, its people and suppliers for their support.

The guests enjoyed Bucks Fizz and canapés provided by the school’s catering team.

A number of Battle Abbey pupils were employed as fashion show models for the day and many more helped dismantle the exhibition at the end.

Nick Acuna said: “The event was a fantastic networking opportunity and a fantastic way for the school to open its doors to members of the public.

“The Battle Abbey School boarders were excellent help in dismantling the show and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the day possible, particularly Battle of Chamber of Commerce who organised the event in conjunction with school.”
