Traditional May Fair will be held in beautiful Bishopstone

Preparations are under way for the Bishopstone May Fair which will be taking place on Saturday May 3.

Seaford children’s author Giles Paley-Philips will be opening the fair, will tell stories during the afternoon and sign books.

There will be a cake decorating competition and a scarecrow competition.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy music from Lewes, Beddingham and Glynde Brass Band, a barbecue and Ab Fab Foods.

There will also be stalls plus a raffle, tombola and teas.

The traditional fair runs from 1pm to 4pm on the village green and behind St Andrew’s Church.

Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of Bishopstone Parish Hall.

Last year with extreme bad weather the organisers still managed to raise just under £2,000 from the annual event.

St Andrew’s Church in the downland village of Bishopstone dates back to Saxon times. It was built between 700AD and 800AD and is the oldest church in Sussex.
