Hang gliding pilot dies after crash near Selsey

A hang gliding pilot died after crashing in marsh land at a nature reserve near Selsey yesterday (Tuesday March 22).

The 42-year-old local man was found by Coastguards after emergency services received reports of the crash at 5.10pm.

Paramedics attended the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly after 6pm.

The man’s relatives have been informed but formal identification has not yet been carried out.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch and the British Hang Gliding Association have also been informed.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “The death is being treated as a tragic accident.”
