Police appeal over serious collision

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious single vehicle collision last month in Chiddingfold.

A police statement, released today, says that at around 5.10pm on Saturday May 21 a van collided with a tree near the golf course in Petworth Lane.

A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was taken to St Georges Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver, a man in his 40s and a young child passenger were also taken to hospital for treatment but have since been discharged.

Sergeant Eddie Ryan from Surrey Police Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I am urging anybody who witnessed the collision to contact us immediately.

“I would particularly like to hear from the driver of a small blue car which was seen in the area around the time of the incident as I believe they may have information which could assist our investigation.”
