Trains disrupted after collision at Billingshurst level crossing

Train services between Barnham and Horsham have been disrupted after a vehicle collided with the level crossing barriers at Billingshurst.

Southern Rail is warning that train services running through these stations may be delayed until 9pm.

Network Rail technicians are currently on site assessing the situation along with police.

A National Rail spokesman said: “Network Rail have advised us that a road vehicle has come into contact with the level crossing barriers at Billingshurst, resulting in damage being caused.

“Technicians are currently on site assessing the situation further together with the local police, and train services will continue to be altered until damage to the barriers have been repaired.

“During this time, the barriers will remain in the down position and the local road has been closed.

“Road users are being diverted via an alternative route.”

Train services are running at a significantly reduced speed through Christ’s Hospital, Billingshurst and Pulborough in both directions.
