Traffic delays in Hailsham for murdered dad’s funeral

TRAFFIC DISRUPTION is expected in Hailsham and Hellingly tomorrow (February 17) for the funeral of murdered dad Darren Croxton.

Mr Croxton, aged 25, of The Diplocks, died from injuries linked to stab wounds in Royal Sussex County Hospital on January 23.

He was stabbed three times the day before in a wooded copse near Bramble Drive.

Mr Croxton’s funeral is taking place at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Hellingly.

The family are planning for the funeral to be a celebration of his life.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We have been liaising closely with partner agencies to address issues such as parking in and around Hellingly and Hailsham town centre tomorrow .

“Some traffic delays are expected at the time of the funeral procession and we would ask all residents to please be patient.

“The funeral will be policed in the same way that all large events of this kind are policed, with particular consideration given to try and avoid as much disruption as possible to the local community.”

A 16-year-old boy charged with Mr Croxton’s murder will appear at Eastbourne Youth Court this Tuesday, February 21. He will be committed for a trial at a Crown Court.

Four other males aged 20, 18, 17 and 16 were arrested for the murder and their bail with conditions ends this Wednesday, February 22.
