Train death was 68-year-old Rye man

The man who died after he was hit by a train in Rye was a 68-year-old from the town, police have said.

British Transport Police confirmed he died at the scene at a foot crossing close to Rye station shortly before 2pm on Thursday (October 1).

His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.

The identity of the man will not be released until an inquest into his death has been opened.
