Train delays caused by broken barriers

Trains are currently delayed between Lewes and Eastbourne due to barriers at a level crossing getting stuck.

According to British Transport Police, the barriers at the level crossing near Berwick railway station became stuck in the up position, meaning that trains could not move.

The transport police were alerted at just after 1.20pm today about the issue.

A spokesperson for the transport police said that Sussex Police was currently at the scene, as well as a manager from Network Rail.

At around 2.40pm, Southern Rail tweeted that all lines were now reopened, but that rail users should still expect delays and cancellations.
