Train punctuality declines

TRAIN performances for both Southeastern and Southern have fallen from the same period last year according to newly released figures from Network Rail.

Southeastern, which operates trains to London via Battle, Robertsbridge and Etchingham, fell from 94.3 percent to 91.9 percent.

Southern, which operates trains on the Rye line between Ashford and Brighton, fell from 91.2 percent to 87.8 percent - below the national average of 91.4 percent.

The data for Britain’s train services covers the period from 03 March 2013 - 31 March 2013.

Alison Nolan, from Southeastern. said: “Southeastern continues to achieve some of the best punctuality records for the south eastern network since records began.

“In this period, 91.9 percent of Southeastern services arrived at all stations within five minutes.”

Nationally perfromance fell from 93.4 percent to 91.4.
