There were no trains running at all between Ashford and Eastbourne yesterday as members of the RMT union held another 24-hour walk out in a row over the future role of conductors.

A normal timetable will be running today, but Southern says services could still be affected by staffing issues.

Addressing passengers, a spokesperson for the train operator said: “Thank you for your patience during the RMT strike yesterday.

“No further strikes have been announced at this stage.

“We aim to run a normal service today however Southern services are still being affected by limited train crew availability which may lead to disruption on some routes.”
