The road is set to reopen eastbound after the incident, which saw a large emergency service response.
A car rolled onto its roof and a fuel leakage led to a long closure while repairs were carried out.
A Highways South East spokesman said: “[We are] expecting Southwick Tunnel to open very shortly.”
