Bexhill woman dies after collision on A27

Police say two other people suffered critical injuries in the crash on the Lewes Road at Polegate.

Emergency services were called to the scene near to the entrance of Folkington Manor at 5.24am, where a Ford Ka had been in collision with a Ford Transit van.

Sadly, police said the 22-year-old woman from Bexhill, a passenger in the Ka, died at the scene.

The driver of the Ka, a 27-year-old man from Hastings, and the driver of the Transit, a 54-year-old man from Polegate, were taken to hospital with what are police say are critical injuries.

The road was closed for rescue, recovery and collision investigation work to take place, with police handing over to Highways for some road repairs to take place shortly after 11.30am.
