East Dean Road, between Eastbourne Golf Club and the Victoria Drive junction, was closed from today (Monday, July 13) and will be until Wednesday (July 15) between 9am and 4pm.

East Sussex County Council, which is responsible for the carriageway resurfacing works, said the repairs come ahead of further works to waterproof and seal the road later this month.

An ESCC spokesperson said, “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the work but would ask people to bear with us as it will improve safety and extend the life of the carriageway for up to 10 years.”

A diversion route is in place via Warren Hill and along King Edward’s Parade, and vice versa, to get in and out of the town.
