Child suffers broken leg after collision with van in Eastbourne

A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a broken leg on Sunday (February 22) after a road incident involving a van.

The girl was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by ambulance.

Sussex Police, the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and the air ambulance were called to the scene at Downs Avenue at 7.40am.

A police spokesman said, “At 7.40am on Sunday a seven-year-old girl suffered a broken right leg after she and a blue Volkswagen Caddy van were in collision in Downs Avenue, Eastbourne.

“The girl, who had been on foot, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

“The driver of the VW, a 57-year-old man, was unhurt.”
