The incident, involving two cars, is reported to have happened on the westbound carriageway of the A27 Polegate bypass, close to the Cop Hall roundabout.
Traffic reports say there are added delays due to construction work in the area. Those long-term roadworks involve lane closures, which are adding to the queues, reports say.
