Cyclist died following a collision at Nutley


A cyclist died after a collision with a car on the A22 at High Street, Nutley, yesterday (Sunday December 28).

Police are appealing for witnesses of the accident which happened shortly before 10am outside Nutley Service Station and involved a Renault Megane travelling south and the cyclist travelling north.

Both land and air ambulance paramedics attended but were unable to save the cyclist, a 79-year-old local man, who had suffered fatal injuries.

The car driver, a 32-year-old man from East Grinstead, was unhurt.

The A22 at Nutley was closed for six hours while the incident was dealt with.

Police wish to thank motorists for their patience and understanding.
