Driver arrested after crash in St Leonards

A driver has been arrested after failing a roadside breath test following a crash in St Leonards.

Police were called to Hampden Close, St Leonards, at about 10am on Tuesday (September 15), after the car rolled over in the collision.

A spokesman said no one was seriously hurt, but the driver sustained minor injuries.

The driver failed a roadside breath test, according to Hastings Police, and was subsequently arrested for driving whilst unfit through drink.

Hastings Police added: "The consequences of drink driving can be devastating - this incident could have ended a lot worse.

"This week, as part of Project EDWARD, we are targeting dangerous driving in attempt to keep our roads safe."

Project EDWARD (Every Day Without a Road Death) is set to take place on Wednesday (September 16) and aims to raise long term awareness of road safety and better driving.

In 2019, iSussex, a total of 5,250 injury collisions were reported to police. Of these, 42 were fatal and a further 1,107 resulted in serious injuries.
