Fallen tree blocking A259 and widespread flooding: Sussex travel update, October 2

Fallen trees and flooding are affecting the roads this morning (October 2) as Storm Alex hits Sussex.

A fallen limb on the A259, westbound, at the junction with the A27 in Pevensey is causing traffic to slow and back up.

In Copsale, near Horsham, a fallen tree is reported to be blocking the junction of Kurves Lane and Coltstaple Lane.

Chichester Police had closed the road between Mouthy's Lane and Clay Lane after a tree, pictured, blocked its path, but the force said a 'very kind' farmer has now dragged it clear.

Horsham Road in Littlehampton has also been blocked in both directions between Worthing Road and St Flora's Road.

Flooding has been reported across the county, including on the A23 in Crawley, as conditions become treachorous for motorists.
