Farm worker flown to hospital after collision with digger in Thakeham

A worker was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after an incident involving a digger on a farm in Thakeham on Saturday (March 28).

Paramedics including a team from Sussex Air Ambulance were called to the farm in The Street at about 1.30pm.

A 38-year-old man suffered lower leg injuries and was flown to St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said he remained in hospital today (Monday March 30) but is recovering.

The man, from Hailsham, was working at the farm as a contractor along with the 67-year-old driver of the digger who was uninjured.

Police said the matter has been reported to the Health and Safety Executive.
