Fire damages refuse truck at Littlehampton depot

SMOKE from a refuse truck parked at a depot in Littlehampton led to fire crews being called out on Saturday night.

The contents of the truck, parked at the depot in Harwood Road used by Arun District Council refuse contractors Verdant, had to be removed by the firefighters, from Littlehampton and East Preston, who were called out shortly after 7pm.

Approximately five per cent of the lorry was damaged by the fire, heat and smoke and a thermal imaging camera was used to check the flames were completely out.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
