Hailsham road closed due to a burst water main

The A22 between the Diplocks and Boship roundabouts is shut northbound today (December 4).

South East Water’s regional network manager Charles Healey said, “We are very sorry to customers and motorists in the Hailsham area for the disruption caused by a burst water main on the A22.

“A repair team is on site and are working as quickly as possible.

“The burst main is in the middle of the northbound carriageway so for the safety of the public and our teams, we have had to close the section of the road at Bushywood. A diversion is in place.

“We will reopen the road as soon as the repair is completed and it’s safe to do so.

“We have delivered bottled water to five properties we know are currently without tap water and we will continue to stay in touch with them until the issue is resolved.

“Once again we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and will do everything we can to get things back to normal.”
