Hastings fire at derelict building ‘being treated as deliberate’ – in pictures

A fire which broke out at a derelict building in Hastings this afternoon is being treated as deliberate, the fire service has said.

Six crews were tasked to the fire in Sedlescombe Road North, Hastings, at 12.24pm – read more here. Firefighters found a derelict building measuring around 20m by 15 m was alight and warned residents to avoid the area. There were no reports of injuries or any people involved, the fire service confirmed. Crews used two breathing apparatus and six hose reel jets to tackle the blaze. Giving an update at 3.15pm, a spokesman said crews were damping down and turning over to make sure the fire was fully put out. A spokesman said: “We are investigating the cause of today’s fire in Hastings but at this time are treating it as deliberate.”
