House fire after roof struck by lightning

A West Sussex Fire and Rescue team were called to a house in Rother Crescent, Crawley, last night after lighting struck the rafters in the roof.

The ground floor walling and curtains were affected by a resulting fire around 6.41pm yesterday (Tuesday May 19).

Part of the roof insulation was removed and damped down using one hose reel by a crew from Crawley.

A thermal imaging camera was also used for inspection.

The fire was out on arrival.
