M23 serious accident causes massive delays,

DRIVERS making their way in and out of Sussex via neighbouring Surrey have had massive problems today (Saturday) following a serious accident on the M23.

Three people were injured in a collision, between junctions seven with the M23 and eight with the A217, on Friday afternoon.

Vehicles, attempting to miss the delays, have also created congestion in towns and villages in the area, such as Reigate and Leatherhead.

The delays have created headaches for people travelling to and from Gatwick Airport.

Highways teams have been busy clearing debris and repairing barriers, plus getting rid of spilt diesel after a lorry went through the central reservation and collided with another vehicle.

Tailbacks of nearly 30 miles were being reported at the height of the congestion.
