Major road into Eastbourne closed for works

Four days of roadworks have caused disruption on a busy route into Eastbourne.

The resurfacing works are being carried out on the A259 East Dean Road, from the Eastbourne Downs Golf Club to Longland Road.

They started on Tuesday (August 11) and are scheduled to end on Friday (August 14), according to East Sussex Highways.

East Sussex County Council is responsible for the works, which are being carried out between 9am and 3.30pm each day.

A Highways spokesperson said it carried out patching works previously to repair sections of the road and this resurfacing seals the road and prolongs its life for up to 10 years.

A diversion route is in place via Warren Hill, Upper Dukes Drive, Dukes Drive, King Edwards Parade, Grand Parade, Devonshire Place, South Street, Gildredge Road, Station Parade, Upperton Road and vice versa.
