Man dies following collision with wall near Hassocks

A man has died after his car collided with a wall near Hassocks yesterday (Sunday December 22).

At 2.45am a black Peugeot 107 car being driven north in St Helena Lane, Streat, near Hassocks, by an 81-year-old man from Hassocks left the road on its nearside and collided with a low wall at the entrance to a property.

The driver got out of the car but collapsed, and shortly afterwards was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services attended and police are now investigating.
