Man with life-threatening injuries after A24 collision

A 68-year-old man received life-threatening injuries in a two-car collision on the A24 yesterday evening (Sunday July 1).

Police and emergency services attended the road traffic collision involving a silver Honda car and a red Nissan on the Dorking Road, Horsham.

The head-on collision was near the Dog and Duck pub.

A 36-year-old man from Staines, Middlesex, who was driving the Honda was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.

His passenger, a 32-year-old woman also from Staines, was taken to Kings College Hospital with neck and leg injuries and remains in a critical condition.

The Nissan driver, aged 68 and from Worthing, was been taken to the Royal London Hospital with life threatening injuries and his 65-year-old female passenger, also from Worthing, was taken to East Surrey Hospital with a fractured pelvis.

Inspector Paul Wood from West Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “This was a nasty head-on collision resulting in multiple injuries to the four casualties.

“If you witnessed the collision or saw either car prior to the incident please call 101 quoting Op Bydown.”

As reported by the County Times last night, the road was closed for several hours as emergency services worked at the scene.
