Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after collision near Bexhill

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a road collision today (Wednesday, September 2).

The incident happened on the A269 Bexhill Road in Ninfield just before 11am.

The road is currently closed both ways between Pear Tree Lane and B2095 Lower Street as emergency services attend the scene.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) spokesman said: “We were called at approximately 10.50am today to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorbike.

“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

“The male motorcyclist was assessed and treated at the scene and has been airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with potentially serious injuries.”

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said Battle firefighters cleared away leaking fuel on the road following the incident.
