Motorcyclist seriously ill after Balcombe collision

A motorcyclist is seriously ill in hospital after his bike collided with a car near Balcombe.

The 31-year-old, from Crawley, was travelling north on the B2036 Balcombe Road when he collided with a silver Ford Fiesta moving to turn south onto the road from the B2110 High Street at 6pm yesterday (Wednesday July 31).

He came off his bike which then struck a silver Ford Transit van that was waiting at the junction to turn north onto the B2036.

The motorcyclist suffered serious internal injuries as well as a broken collarbone and broken ribs.

He is currently in a stable condition at Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 17-year-old male from Haywards Heath, suffered minor injuries that did not need hospital treatment.

The 39-year-old Transit driver was not hurt.
