One killed and four injured in Amberley crash horror

EMERGENCY services were called to a serious collision, involving two cars, on the B2139 in Amberley at roughly 5pm yesterday (Thursday).

The crash, between a Ford Fiesta and SAAB car, is reported to have taken place outside the Amberley cricket club, in New Barn Road.

The female driver of the Ford Fiesta was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her female passenger was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton.

The three adult occupants of the SAAB car were taken to Worthing Hospital, after one woman was extracted by firefighters using hydraulic rescue equipment.

The road was closed for several hours while road traffic officers investigated.
