One person taken to hospital after collision in Westfield

One person was taken to hospital after a two-car collision blocked a road in Westfield.

The A28 Westfield Lane was blocked in both directions at Westfield just after 10am on Tuesday (August 11).

The collision was reported to have happened close to the Freshfields Farm Shop.

Paramedics were called to the scene where an elderly woman, in her 80s, was suffering from shock.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said one person was taken to Conquest Hospital.

East Sussex Fire were also called to the scene after reports one person may have been trapped in one of the vehicles.

However, a spokesman said nobody was trapped.

They added: “We were called at 10.03am to the A28 Westfield Lane, Westfield following reports of an RTC involving two cars.

“No persons were trapped. Crews helped to administer first aid to one casualty suffering from shock.”

Stagecoach services were affected by the incident.

A spokesman said: “Due to an emergency road closure at Westfield Lane we are currently unable to serve the area. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
