Petworth road closed following three car collision

The A285 coming out of Petworth has been closed both ways following a collision this afternoon (Friday, July 17).

Traffic is reportedly slow and queuing on the A285 north of the town.

The incident is believed to have taken place at the junction of Horsham Road and North Street.

Three cars were involved and the people in the cars have been put in the care of ambulance staff.

A spokesman for Midhurst Fire Station said on social media: "15:58 - 43P1 ordered along with @station49fire @WorthingFire and @jamesmcgrath01 to a three vehicle collision in #Petworth all persons out and in the care of @SECAmbulance area made safe and left with @Chichester_Pol #Midhurst #oncall."
