Police appeal after Haywards Heath man seriously injured on A273

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck by a car on the A273 between Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath.

A 33-year-old man from Haywards Heath was hit by a red Nissan Micra heading north on Isaac’s Lane at about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 January)

He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with life-threatening head and chest injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, a 61-year-old from Burgess Hill, was treated for shock.

Sergeant Peter Verney said: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw one or more people walking in or next to Isaac’s Lane and the red Nissan being driven in the minutes before the accident.

“If you have any information at all, please contact us.”
