Police appeal after serious accident involving car and pedestrian in Haslemere

There are still heavy delays around the Haslemere area following a serious accident earlier today.

A collision took place just before 12.50am at the junction of the High Street and Shepherds Hill, involved a blue Nissan Micra car and a pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, has been taken by ambulance to St Georges Hospital, Tooting with serious head injuries, according to police.

The car driver was shaken but is otherwise uninjured, Surrey Police added.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the town centre.

Road closures remain in place and there are still delays.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses to call 101, quoting incident reference P16248444.

Alternatively, people can use the online reporting system found at https://report.police.uk/ and enter the reference number in the ‘Additional information’ section.
