Police close A27 at Lewes due to flooding

The A27 has been closed at Lewes this morning (Friday, December 4) due to flooding.

Sussex Road Police said the eastbound carriageway has been closed between the Ashcombe and Southerham roundabouts.

Officers said they were trying to clear blocked drains and hopes to have one lane open shortly.

The heavy overnight rain has also led to flooding on the B2104 between Polegate and Hailsham. The road is closed both ways from Cottage Lane to Otham Court Lane.

And in Alfriston, White Way has been blocked both ways near the High Street due to a fallen tree.
