Police helicopter and firearms officers search for missing four-year-old girl

A major search and rescue operation was sparked after a four-year-old girl went missing from her home in Lower Beeding on Saturday (May 11).

Friends and family had already been searching for the girl for around half an hour before police were alerted at 6.25pm.

Sussex Police launched a helicopter and the firearms unit.

Around 25 officers were involved in the search - including Horsham and Worthing response officers, a neighbourhood policing team and traffic officers.

She was found 35 minutes later about a mile away from her home.

A spokesperson for Horsham police said: “She had wandered out of the address but was found unharmed and unaware of the worry by the local police community support officer Tracy Field.”
