Road in Chichester remains closed following serious collision

West Sussex Fire said the collision involving a car and a motorbike has closed the A286 Birdham Road near Dell Quay Road.

A spokesman said the road would be closed in both directions for some time.

People have been advised to avoid the area after one of the vehicles caught fire.

West Sussex Fire said it has now been extinguished.

Firefighters used two hose reels, two sets of breathing apparatus and thermal imaging camera to tackle the flames.

Firefighters from Chicheser and Bognor, paramedics, the air ambulance and police were called to the scene.

The air ambulance also attended.
