Fairlight Road will be closed to traffic between Martineau Lane and Lower Coastguard Lane for three weeks from Monday (August 24) for drainage works.

East Sussex Highways said although access will be maintained for residents, all other vehicles will be diverted via Pett Level Road, Chick Hill, Pett Road and the A259.

A separate diversion route will be in place for HGVs.

A spokesman for East Sussex Highways said: “We are upgrading the existing drainage system in Fairlight Road to address issues highlighted in a routine survey of the highway.

“We appreciate the disruption these works and the necessary diversion route will cause, but we would ask people to bear with us as this work is essential to maintain the condition of the road.”

Resurfacing of Fairlight Road and Battery Hill will follow the drainage work.

Details will be shared when confirmed once the drainage work is under way.
