An East Sussex road is closed this morning (Wednesday, January 8) for emergency works.

Brightling Road, Robertsbridge, is currently closed due to a burst water main outside Perryfields, according to East Sussex Highways.

Emergency works are being undertaken by South East Water, and the water supplier has issued an apology to homes in the TN32 5HB area, which have been affected by the outage.

A spokesperson said: “We're really sorry to those of you without water or low pressure.

"We're currently working around the clock to fix a burst main on our network which is causing the supply issues.

“We know how disruptive it is to be without water and we're doing everything we can to get you up and running as soon as possible."

As of 10.37pm last night (Tuesday, January 7), a temporary fix had been completed, but the water main will need to be turned off again to complete a permanent fix, South East Water said.

The water supplier said the repair is ‘proving to be quite complex’, which means an estimated completion time cannot be provided.

However, Brightling Road is anticipated to be open by Friday (January 10) at 5pm, according to East Sussex Highways.
