Shoreham Airshow detectives look into 2014 airshow incident

A detective investigating the Shoreham Airshow disaster said his team are also taking into consideration an incident at the Southport airshow in 2014.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Rymarz said: “We are aware of an incident at the Southport airshow in 2014.

“This incident forms a line of enquiry in our wider investigation.

“All the families are aware of our interest in this incident.”

In August last year, a Hawker Hunter crashed onto the A27 at Shoreham and killed 11 people.

Emergency services have been praised for their fast response by Prime Minister David Cameron.

A team of 66 Red Cross volunteers have been awarded the Dunant award, in recognition of them going ‘above and beyond the call of duty’ during the incident.
