Shoreham lifeboat aids struggling windsurfer off Ferring

THE RNLI Shoreham all weather lifeboat, Enid Collett, was sent to help a windsurfer who was caught struggling ashore in freshening winds this week.

The lifeboat was just returning to Shoreham Harbour from an exercise at 8pm on Wednesday, April 27, when the coastguard received a 999 call about a windsurfer off Ferring.

When the crew arrived the man had just made it to shore.

As the lifeboat was making her way back, the coastguard received another 999 call about a windsurfer in trouble close to the first one.

After a search was made it was established it was the same windsurfer.

The lifeboat then returned to station.
