Sussex morning travel report: Roads closed after separate fires involving barn and HGV; tractor involved in collision; 'major disruption' on railway

Two roads are closed due to separate fires in Sussex, this morning.

Cherry Lane in Cuckfield is closed both ways due to a fire on a farm. West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a barn was alight earlier today, with multiple fire crews at the scene. Traffic is said to be coping well.

Meanwhile, in East Sussex, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) has reportedly caught fire in Uckfield.

The incident has been reported at the Little Horsted roundabout (A26 / A22).

One motorist reported on Twitter that they had seen ‘a lot of smoke’ whilst driving along the bypass. Traffic sources suggest the road is currently blocked.

Elsewhere in East Sussex, a tractor has reportedly been involved in a collision near Robertsbridge.

According to traffic reports, Brightling Road is partially blocked after the incident near Hollingrove Road

In West Sussex, slow traffic has been reported on A272 Cowfold Road both ways before A23 (Bolney Cross). This is due to temporary traffic lights, in place for construction works.

There is also slow, queueing traffic on the A27 in Chichester, eastbound towards A259 Cathedral Way (Fishbourne roundabout).

On the railway line, train services in Sussex are facing major delays.

According to Southern Rail, a ‘number of incidents’ are currently impacting Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern services this morning.

Services across the network may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to an hour or revised, Southern said.
