UPDATE: 30 bales of hay on fire in Littlehampton
A TRACTOR has been called in to help firefighters tackle a blaze in a Littlehampton field.
Firefighters were called to the field off Rope Walk, Littlehampton, shortly after 4pm today (Sunday, August 28) when 30 bales of hay caught fire.
Now, a tractor is being used to pull the bales apart to make it easier for firefighters to damp them down.
Workers from UK Power Networks are also on the scene because of the field’s proximity to a power line.
Firefighters have now (5.35pm) been at the scene for just over an hour-and-a-half.
