UPDATE: Cyclist who died in Horsham collision identified as local man

The cyclist who died after a collision in Kerves Lane, Horsham, yesterday (Monday December 8) has been identified as a local man.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said the collision occurred just before 11am near Bournehill Lodge.

It resulted in Kerves Lane being closed to traffic between its junctions with the A281 Brighton Road to the north and Hard’s Hill/Coldstaple Lane to the south for several hours.

Paramedics attended but the cyclist, a local man aged 65, died at the scene. The coroner has been informed.

A 26-year-old man, driving a silver Citroen C2 car, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw what happened or noticed either the car or t he cyclist shortly before the collision is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting Operation Ashling.

In particular, officers would like to speak to two horseriders believed to have passed the scene shortly before the collision occurred.
