UPDATE: Man crushed by crate in Horsham

A DELIVERY man has suffered leg, arm and abdominal injuries after he was crushed by a large crate in Horsham this morning (Wednesday 12).

Emergency services were scrambled to the back of Swan Walk shopping centre, off the Carfax, as the man was reported to be ‘crying out in pain’.

South East Coast Ambulance staff rushed to the scene around 9am to find the driver lying at the back of a Superdrug lorry.

One witness said the man was ‘screaming’ and ‘crying out in pain’ as the heavy crate loaded with confectionary and other items came crashing down on him.

An air ambulance landed in Horsham Park at 9.25am and three members of crew were seen bolting through the town centre.

Screens were erected and a cordon was quickly set up as a number of paramedics attempted to recover the conscious man.

A spokesman for Sussex Air Ambulance said: “We got called in by an ambulance at the scene.
