UPDATE: Seven mile queue on M23 around Gatwick after accident

The carriageway was briefly shut for crews to clean up the debris strewn across the road.

Queuing traffic stretched seven miles at one stage but has now cleared.

There was congestion on the M23 to the M25 Junction 7.

All lanes have been re-opened.
