A 14-year-old local girl was seriously injured following a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa this morning (August 22) in Eastbourne.
Police and ambulance were called to the A259 eastbound, Pevensey Bay Road, at around 11.45am.
The teenager has been airlifted to Kings College Hospital, London, where she remains in a critical condition.
Sergeant Dave Morgan, from East Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please call us on 101 quoting serial Operation Yarford.
“The road was closed eastbound for several hours whilst forensic investigators examined the scene and Highways cleared the road of debris. I would like to thank drivers for their patience and understanding.”
The driver of the Corsa, a 19-year-old woman from St Leonards was uninjured.
